Unit for the joint tactical radio system enhanced multiband inter/intra team radio (jem), an/prc-148 maritime version v5. The rt provides military teams with the ability to communicate on a user-selected frequency from 30 to 512 megahertz (mhz) utilizing a single, handheld radio. It includes national security agency (nsa)-endorsed embedded communications security (comsec). The jem radio operates in both military and public service frequency bands, on a rechargeable battery pack or commercial batteries, has a selectable power output up to five watts, is night vision goggles (nvg) compatible, and includes a built-in test (bit) capability. Its capable of operating after immersion in 20 meters of water for 2 hours. An internal microphone/speaker with the urban version capable of enhanced audio fidelity and integrated waveform capability distinguishes this radio from v1 and v2 mbitr variants.
