The nose end of the muzzle shall be provided with ventilation openings sufficient in size and number to prevent the muzzle from interfering with the dog's breathing, however no opening shall permit manual insertion of a rod larger than 3/8 inch diameter. The muzzle shall completely enclose the dog's snout and lower jaw, while allowing sufficient jaw movement to permit the dog to bark, growl, snap and pant. The front and sides of the muzzle nose shall be stiffened with metal or other suitably rigid material to maintain the dog's shout.The vertical front interior surface of the muzzle shall not contact the nose of the dog. The top portion of the muzzle shall not extend farther rearward than the dog's cheekbones. The lower portion of the muzzle may extend farther to the rear, but shall not press against the dog's throat, and the muzzle shall not interfere with the dog's vision.
